Taking a class at Bear Meadow is a rewarding way to build a dulcimer. It is also an excellent education in the art of lutherie.

Here are some comments from people who have taken the classes.

Introductory Class

I really want to thank you for the opportunity to take your beginning dulcimer building class. My goal in taking the class was to get an idea as to what it takes to build a dulcimer and decide if I wanted to try and build some more.

Well, it was an intense week but I am very glad that I took the class. Your instructions were clear and I appreciated your guidance and gentle encouragement. For someone who had no prior experience with woodworking, or the luthiers craft, I feel I now have a good understanding of the process and tools needed to craft a fine instrument.

I was truly doubtful that I was going to have an instrument that was playable. However, you walked me through all the problems that occurred and I now have a dulcimer that I am really excited about playing! I can't wait to build another one! Once again, thank you for sharing your art with me.

Oh, and thanks for the watermelon!

Introductory and Intermediate Classes

Heartfelt appreciation for all the wonderful time we shared together in your introductory and intermediate dulcimer building classes. You are a superb teacher, I felt you quickly had a read on my skill level and expected me to work to it. Much thought and creativity have gone into the building techniques that you have developed. You openly shared not only the techniques but also the theory and reasoning behind them. I will long remember and cherish my experience at the Bear Meadow Lutherie.Thank you.

Intermediate Class

Thanks for the gifts that you shared with me during my recent training period. My expectations were high; even very high. Well, I want you to know that not only did you meet my expectations, you "blew them away!" It has been several weeks since I returned home and I'm still "living off the fruits" of our time together.

Your craftsmanship was anticipated and expected. Your graciousness, love of life, and passion for educating others was awesome! You are indeed a Master Craftsman, not just of lutherie, but of life itself. I'm not sure that I will ever be able to match your handwork, but I know that you have given me every bit of knowledge that would allow me to do so.

Again, thank you for being who you are. God bless you in your journey. Please keep in touch.
