In addition to ClearCase and ClearDDTS, our main Software Configuration Management and Problem Tracking tools, we have a bag of helpful tools and utilities.

Here's a Tool Catalog you might find useful:

• Helpful aliases. These are some command definitions that will help you navigate and perform some useful tasks.

  Find any element in any vob:
  alias locate /packages/cc_site/bin/locate
  46% locate foo
  /vob/fx/src/components/foo/foo.C
  /vob/fx/src/components/foo/foo.h
  ...
  
  

  Finding a string in a VOB element:
  alias fgrc 'find . -type f -name "*[Cc]" -print | xargs grep \!*'
  alias fgrh 'find . -type f -name "*h" -print | xargs grep \!*'
  alias fgrm 'find . -type f -name "[Mm]akefile" -print | xargs grep \!*'

  A neat diff for VOB elements (see /packages/cc_site/docs/ctdiff.doc for man page):

  Usage: ctdiff [ [-version version-spec] | [-brpoint] | [-label label-type] ]
  {cleartool diff arguments} { pname ... | < list_of_pnames }
  NOTE: All flags may be abbreviated to three characters.
  
  

  An easy way to remove empty branches (file branches which have only a version zero):
  alias rmempty /packages/cc_site/sgi_bin/rm_empty_branch
  50% rmempty
  Usage: rm_empty_branch [-f[orce]] _branch_specifier_
  -f[orce] will remove the branch without confirmation,
  for example,
  rm_empty_branch -f /vob/fx/src/Makefile@@/main/sjk_brtype
  _branch_specifier_ must appear as the the last argument.
